Eslicarbazepine has been associated with some central nervous system adverse reactions, such as dizziness and somnolence, which could increase the occurrence of accidental injury. Eslicarbazepine may decrease the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives. Nonhormonal forms of contraception are recommended when using eslicarbazepine. Concomitant use of eslicarbazepine with oxcarbazepine is not recommended because this may cause overexposure to the active metabolites., Drug should not be given to Pregnant Mothers, patients suffering from Kidney dysfunction, and Neonates.
Dizziness, sleepiness, headache, blurred or double vision, nausea and vomiting, diarrhoea, skin rash, fatigue, abnormal coordination, problems concentrating, tremor, anaemia, underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism), disturbances of the gut such as dry mouth, indigestion or abdominal pain or bloating, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammation of the mouth and gums, changes in appetite and body weight, skin reactions such as, dryness, redness or excessive sweating, hair loss, dehydration.
Hypersensitivity to the active substance, to other carboxamide derivatives.
