Tablet is used for the prevention of deficient protein metabolism in kidney diseased patients with glomerular filtration rate (GFR) less than 25 ml/min. Patients are advised to take a limited protein intake of not more than 40 grams per day while receiving this medicine. It helps to delay the progression of kidney disease in patients receiving dialysis. It is also used in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy for slowing down the progression of kidney failure.
