World Death Statistics of SARS-CoV-2:

The rapidly spreading Coronavirus has reached and affected at least 80 countries of the world. According to the New York Times, cases of infected people has reached 95,400 with atleast 3,280 deaths, till Thursday 05 March.

Under the fear of a rising global pandemic, the CDC has advised people against all non-essential travel to South Korea, China, Italy and Iran.

In the US, the no. of confirmed cases has reached least 152 cases with 11 deaths. Italy has one of the world’s largest Coronavirus outbreaks, with at least 3,089 positive cases.

As for Asia, the largest no. of cases are from China, South Korea and Japan. Following them are Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam and India.

Scenario in India

Even when pollution itself can’t make people of Delhi wear masks, Coronavirus has actually done it. Because, now I am seeing a lot of people here in Delhi, wearing masks.

The reason is the fear and the increasing cases, which has reached to 28 confirmed cases in India till, 05 March.

Because of the enormous population of the country, the risk of the virus spread is too much and also the effects after it. Given the not-so-good healthcare services in India, the outbreak can be disastrous.

But, there are experts who have a positive response and have a different theory. According to K. K Aggarwal, President of the Heart Care Foundation of India, the high temperature and humid weather conditions of India acts as a defence against the virus.

As for us common people, all we can do is hope is that the situation stays in control and do not escalate. Also, we can protect ourselves and others by following the necessary health and hygiene guidelines, issued by the health organizations.
