Stemming from Ancient Vedic culture, the journey of Ayurveda started around 5000 years ago. The concept of Ayurveda originally started in India and is based on the concept of natural healing. Often called the “Mother of All Healing”, the word Ayurveda is derived from two words, AYU means Life and VEDA means science or knowledge.
With the science of Ayurveda comes Ayurvedic medicines, which have started with treating just minor problems to now, coming up with effective treatment plans for diabetes, heart diseases.
Definitely, the change was not sudden but still it left people wary about its usage or in general.
All of this creates a lot of curiosity amongst us, leaving us with one too many questions. That I am sure we all want to know about. Read more to find out those Questions along with their explanation.
Are Ayurvedic Medicines Safe?
This is one of the most common questions that people often ask about.
And the answer is No, not all Ayurvedic medicines are safe. Because, some of them may contain lead, mercury, or arsenic in amounts that can be toxic.
Just like
other medicines, Ayurvedic medicine can cause side effects, if the formulation
has any ingredient that should not be taken in large quantities.
There is no doubt about the many benefits of Ayurvedic medicines but still, there is no clinical research in Ayurveda.
If you’re considering an Ayurvedic treatment, be sure to speak with your physician or a health care professional.
How diagnosis in Ayurveda is done?
In Ayurveda, diagnosis is not done on the basis of disease symptoms but rather on the person as a whole.
While taking the diagnosis, the doctor takes into account his physiological and mental features along with person’s daily routine, his digestion, accesses the site of the disease location and also his personal, social and environmental situation.

Is there any one Ayurvedic Medicine for all diseases?
No, I
don’t think so. Neither Ayurveda nor any other medicine system has a single
medicine that can treat all problems. Since different diseases are caused by
different reasons and have a different response in people, it is not possible
for one medicine to treat all diseases.
How much time Ayurvedic Medicine take to work?
One of the fundamental principles of Ayurveda is to treat a patient on a holistic level, instead of just relieving the symptoms.
Instead of providing you with a short-term cure and relief, Ayurvedic medicines aim for your long-term health and well-being all the while giving you a permanent cure to your problem.
So, no
doubt that Ayurveda provides a little slower results as compared to western
medicine but the wait is worth it.
What are the disadvantages of Ayurvedic Medicines?
The fact that they work a little slower than western medicine, can be a disadvantage for Ayurvedic treatments.
Other than that, another major disadvantage of Ayurvedic medicine is said to be the presence of heavy metals in it. As our body needs heavy metals in trace quantities, the intake of heavy doses can sometimes lead to metal poisoning.
What are some common brands of Ayurveda in India?
